CLEARFIELD COUNTY

Something Wild Is Waiting

the brief
Clearfield County, Pennsylvania had a perception problem: to the regional couples and families within easy driving distance, it read as too far, too quiet, and too short on reasons to stay. But marketing Clearfield as a tranquil place to slow down would have confirmed every hesitation the campaign needed to overcome.

the work
We reframed the product. Restoration isn’t what Clearfield sells—it’s what happens after a trip that was genuinely fun. The real offer is variety you don’t expect in a place this size: an unexpected, quirky, wild variety where a family can hike a state forest, photograph twenty life-size dinosaurs, split a six-pound burger, and end the day at a lakeside cabin. Something Wild Is Waiting became the platform—an invitation with built-in mystery, because the “something” is different for everyone, from an elk at sunrise to a dinosaur photo op. We brought it to life with a custom-drawn Clearfield “C” that nests an entire landscape—sunrise, ridgelines, small town, fields, and water—inside the county’s own initial, built to flex across positive, reverse, and photo-mask treatments in a warm, natural Terra Cotta and Straw palette. Three messaging pillars—wild in the landscape, the details, and the welcome—and a manifesto carried the voice, capturing the turn: Clearfield isn’t a quiet place pretending to be interesting, it’s an interesting place that’s been too quiet about itself. The result is a complete brand that makes the county’s distance and quiet the reason to visit, not the reason to skip it.
